KARIS WAVE
PERFECTLY BALANCED BEAUTY AND HARMONY
With its wooden cabinet with sculpted waves, the Karis Wave model is a speaker that represents a work of art – a unique and exclusive piece enveloping sound and music in one natural shell.
MUCH MORE THAN A SPEAKER
Karis Wave is a fully-fledged acoustic instrument, tuned just like a violin. The cabinet is made of aged Canaletto walnut staves, expertly finished and assembled in line with tradition to ensure lasting stability.
As with a stringed instrument, the solid wood modelled into the relevant shape is a living thing, and can recreate harmonics we perceive as natural.
The handcrafted waves make each cabinet individual, and enable comprehensive signal transmission of sound reproduction which is even closer to the sound of a live event.

A THRILLING BLEND OF SHAPE, MUSIC AND NATURE
The partnership between Alessandro Schiavi and Antonio Comini transpired from the idea of producing a sculpture made of wood that created a natural shell capable of reproducing sound and music.
The multi-faceted shape of the Karis model represented the ideal base for modelling waves inspired by sand dunes defined by the wind and sea, providing the perfect metaphor for the vibrations of the human voice or a musical instrument.
This blend of music, art and nature has resulted in a unique work of art, and the ideal combination of sophisticated technology and pure design.
Karis Wave is a prestige limited-edition model, with just 200 units produced. Each pair of speakers has a certificate of authenticity with a reference number and the signature of Antonio Comini (the artist) and Alessandro Schiavi (the designer).

WAVE STAND IN SOLID CANALETTO WALNUT & BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL
Designed exclusively for Karis Wave, Wave Stand matches and completes the elegance of the speaker and the quality of the craftsmanship, and lifts the speaker off the floor. As with the speaker unit, the side panel of the central column is cut from solid pieces, creating aesthetic continuity with the unit itself.
A WEALTH OF TECHNOLOGY
Karis Wave technology is also a work of art.
The drivers are produced by the Norwegian company SEAS in accordance with DIAPASON specifications, as is the 11-cm woofer equipped with a large magnet to ensure reliable performance at low frequencies, within the physical limits for speakers of this size.
Diapason Direct Drive (DDD) technology enables the direct connection of rear connectors to the woofer without using a low-pass circuit.
The 19-mm SEAS tweeters reproduce musical content which is very natural, with precise detail, dynamics and rich harmonics. Precise soundstage reconstruction can reproduce every individual instrument in its original position.
The crossover circuit has been designed specifically for Karis Wave. It reduces electrical signal dispersion and ensures rapid, direct signal routing to the drivers, with technology that differs from other DIAPASON speakers combined with the exclusive use of Van den Hul SCS-12 cables for all internal wiring.

KARIS WAVE OLIVE

WHY OLIVE
Olive wood is a typical product of our region: its trees are one of the most widespread crops along the Brescia coasts of Lake Garda and Lake Iseo.
This choice, therefore, expresses Diapason’s deep roots and ties to its territory. Using solid olive wood to create a speaker cabinet is a fascinating challenge, bordering on the impossible.
The characteristics of this gift of nature, in terms of density and mass, make it perfect for the purpose, but it is a strong, sinewy, and in some ways untameable wood: using it in electroacoustics requires several measures.
Indeed, even taking the usual meticulous care to ensure adequate natural drying times, and refining it with a further stabilization process in vacuum ovens (to optimize the moisture content of the fibers), it is not possible to guarantee the integrity of a cabinet over time if it exceeds the dimensions of a Karis III.
This is why only the Karis III and Karis Wave can benefit from this extraordinary material. But that’s not all! Olive wood is so hard that even the tools used to work it—saws, cutters, and drill bits—must be special, made with materials far more resistant than normal. The reward is a cabinet of exceptional mass and density, which translates, when listened to, into a noticeable increase in dynamics, speed, and color contrast: “deep black,” one might say, borrowing a term typically used to describe the quality of video screens.
